Welcome. I’m Mark, a 20-something year old living in the Toronto area (Heaven knows when you’ll read this, so let’s just assume I’m not 30 by then). I work as a professional commercial artist, having attained a BAA of Illustration from Sheridan College. I’m a full-time geek, workaholic, and idealist. That’s really all there is to sum me up at the moment.

2009’s barely reached its midway and already the year’s been full of surprises. I’ve made new friends, adopted an adorable beagle named Han-Soon, finally purchased a professional grade microphone for recording, and I’m helping found a convention in the Burlington-Oakville-Mississauga region called ConBravo!.

Conventions have shaped a lot of my adult life. I started going to them when I was 18-19, with my first Anime North in 2001. It’s been a ride since, with more and more shows tacking themselves onto my schedule. Being part of several performance stables, I’ve even managed to become a guest at some, usually as a stage performer and sometimes as a guest speaker on topics of art and philosophy.

With ConBravo!, my major project for the next year and change (at the very least), I hope to bring a sense of geek community to the Oakville area. There’s very little by way of cultural events in that town, and it’s the intention of everyone involved to change that. It’s going to be homegrown, down to earth, and fun — at least we hope. I hope most of you will come out and join us!

This blog, in and of itself is meant to be my personal rambling space. I like good discussions, but I also need somewhere to rant, and Heaven knows the internet is a good outlet. If you’re interested in something I’ve said, feel free to speak your mind. Debates are always welcome.
